Sustainability, or the simple act of taking care of our Earth, is a universal human responsibility we all share, owe to each other, and to those who will come after us. Now considering the exponentially growing effects of climate change, individuals who take initiative to transform our daily lives & environment into being a more environmentally friendly and sustainable space, is needed now more than ever. So for it to be brought up in subjects and for schools to have dedicated clubs for sustainability, truly pushes for a greater sustainable future.

Being a TASS Student Ambassador is exciting on so many levels, but at its core the majority of my excitement is rooted from the fact that I have more agency, ability and access in initiatives for sustainability projects, or in general what I can do or help in making my environment a more sustainable one.

Aaron

Sustainability in schools is one of the most important facets of life, with it being the backbone and cornerstone of a functioning and capable educational system. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I’m incredibly excited to begin carrying TASS’ mission to STC’s school life, and immerse green practices to construct a more equitable future for the next generation. Change happens from us students, so it’s up to us to step up and take the wheel of the future, one step at a time.

Abbie

Throughout Years 9 and 10, I have worked closely with the sustainability council in both Hong Kong and Hangzhou. During these two years, I contributed to various initiatives, such as educating my classmates during assemblies, communicating with parents about train travel between Hong Kong and Hangzhou, and participating in SCO meetings to better understand the growing concerns regarding student health and sustainability.

Contributing to these initiatives has deepened my understanding of the importance of preserving the Earth for future generations. My interest in how our school addresses these pressing issues has grown through observing and leading initiatives that highlight key problems and potential solutions. One aspect that excites me about becoming a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to explore how sustainability can further integrate into our academics, creating a better learning environment for my classmates and future generations.

Abbie

Sustainability matters to me because I believe that we are incredibly lucky to be able to call such a beautifully biodiverse planet our home, and it is essential for us to actively look after and cherish it so that future generations and wildlife can thrive.

The aspect of being a TASS Student Ambassador that excites me the most is being able to hear from and share ideas with students from across the globe.

Abdulrahman

Sustainability in schools matters to me as it prepares future leaders, fosters critical thinking, and instills positive lifelong habits in students. I am exited to be a TASS Student Ambassador so I can make my school community more sustainable and as environmentally-friendly as possible.

Abigail

Sustainability is crucial for our school’s continued success and growth. Sustainability is important not only for our school, but for all humanity and nature on the planet, as it allows us to grow and develop without harming others. Being a TASS student ambassador excites me because I get to be a role model, showing other students and teachers how we can make our school a better and more sustainable place. I look forward to learning new ideas and skills that I can implement to make a positive difference at my school.

Ahmed

Sustainability in schools matters to me because it’s about more than just helping the environment—it’s about inspiring students to take responsibility and make a real difference in the world. At Dubai British School, I’ve seen how small actions can lead to big change, and I want to be part of creating a positive impact. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I’m excited to work with others who share the same passion, come up with creative ideas, and help make sustainability a bigger part of our everyday lives.

Ahmed

Sustainability in schools matters to me because that’s where I first learned that actions can lead to real differences. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I’m excited to join a team of innovators who share my values. I look forward to exchanging ideas, learning from others’ experiences, and helping create projects that enhance the sustainability of our school environment.

Aiden

Sustainability in schools is important to me because I observe many bad habits in our daily lives that we can certainly change. I am truly enthusiastic about making a difference with TASS!

Akhil

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to implement in our daily lives. We shouldn’t only focus on schools, but try to extend our outreach and promote sustainability everywhere. Students need to become educated about sustainability and the effect it can have on communities from an early age.

I believe sustainability should be a way of life, saving our resources and helping the people of the future by being sustainable. With major problems growing throughout the world, the next generation should be sustainable; environmentally, economically, and socially.

The thing that excites me the most about being a TASS ambassador is the exposure I will get, the people I will meet, and the ideas and implementations of schools around the region and world. The information in the TASS Onboarding Manual provides so much valuable insights and research as well as frameworks to make impact.

Akshaya

Sustainability in schools matters to me because I believe the habits we build as students can shape the future. Schools are where we spend a large part of our lives, so even small changes in the way we use resources, reduce waste, and care for our surroundings can have a meaningful impact. I also believe sustainability should be something we practice, not just something we learn about.

What excites me most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to turn ideas into action. I’m excited to meet students who are passionate about sustainability, exchange ideas, and bring creative initiatives back to my school. I hope to encourage more students to get involved and show that making a difference can start with small, everyday actions.

Ali

Ameera

Sustainability in schools matters to me because I think lasting change starts with the habits and choices we make every day. I’ve seen that simply telling students to be more sustainable isn’t always enough – people are much more likely to participate when initiatives are interactive, relevant, and give them a reason to care.

What excites me most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to take that idea further. I’m looking forward to learning from students and schools across the TASS community, sharing ideas, and bringing new approaches back to HIXS. I’m especially excited to work on initiatives that make sustainability feel less like a topic we learn about and more like something we actively take part in.

Arvea

Sustainability matters to me because schools are not only places where we learn knowledge, but also where we develop habits and values that can shape our future. I believe that small actions taken by students today can create meaningful environmental impact over time.

What excites me most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to connect with students from different schools who share a passion for sustainability. I look forward to exchanging ideas, learning from diverse initiatives, and working together to create positive change both within our schools and beyond.

Ayaan

Climate change is becoming more urgent every year, which makes sustainability more important than ever. Schools play a key role in this, because the habits and attitudes students develop during their education often stay with them for life. By encouraging sustainable thinking early on, we can influence the way future communities behave and make decisions.

I am genuinely honoured to be selected as a TASS Student Ambassador, and I’m excited to collaborate with others who share the same commitment to positive change. Together, we can explore practical solutions and work towards creating a more environmentally responsible school and wider community. I believe that real change often begins with small, deliberate actions and choices we make every day that, over time, create lasting and transformative improvements.

Azura

Sustainability in schools matters to me because it shapes the way young people learn to care for the planet and build responsible habits for the future. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I’m most excited to share ideas, work with other passionate students, and create real impact in my school community.

Barzilay

To me, sustainability is the ultimate goal to be able to maintain a balance between mankind and nature. It is the ability to be able to reduce the negative impacts of mankind on earth either through technological advances or measures in order to make up for the footprint we leave behind. It must be also be effective over a long period of time

Bella

Bella’s past experiences in sustainability include collaborating with marine biologists to conserve coral reefs in the Maldives, working as a trainee naturalist in India’s Gir Lion Reserve, and becoming a certified junior naturalist in the Kanha Tiger Reserve. She is proud to serve as an ambassador for TASS, an organization aligned with her values and dedication to creating a more environmentally conscious world.

Benjamin

Sustainability in education affects not only how we learn, but also how we live and make choices every day. Our generation will be the one to make lasting changes to the environment, and schools are an important starting point. At BSAK, I have seen how small but important actions, like cutting down on waste or raising awareness, can make a difference. We are learning a sense of responsibility by promoting sustainability in schools.

What excites me most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to meet and work with other students who share my passion. Working alongside students who share the same passion as me enables me to learn new ideas, gain various perspectives, and collaborate on creative ways to make schools more sustainable.

Caitlin

When I was in primary school, my teacher showed our class a video of one of Greta Thunberg’s speeches, in which she was criticising world leaders for not taking immediate action to mitigate the effects of human-caused climate change. That was one of my first exposures towards grasping the idea of the state of our environment.

Since then, I’ve learnt more about our environment and understood how humans have affected it, which drove me to want to try my best to help protect our planet for the future generations. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I hope to make bigger and more impactful changes to promote sustainability, and encourage others to join in our efforts to create a more sustainable future for our school community.

Carolina

Sustainability in schools is indispensable as it promotes awareness and accountability within the community for our future and that of younger generations.

Chelsie

Education is the foundation of the very society that we live in. Therefore, I strongly believe in TASS’s mission to promote and integrate sustainability into schools, encouraging and educating the younger generation about their roles in making our planet a better, more sustainable environment.

I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to join the team and representing Island School as a TASS Student Ambassador. I look forward to collaborating with everyone, providing and receiving feedback, taking action in my community and creating a more sustainable future for all.

Dhiya

Sustainability might just be one of the most talked-about ideas of the 21st century, but its importance goes far beyond words. I believe sustainability is the foundation of a functioning and capable educational system—it is not only crucial for our school, but for humanity and all life on the planet.

As students, we spend the majority of our day at school, so learning about sustainability from an early age allows us to incorporate it naturally into our lives in the future. Being a TASS student ambassador gives me the opportunity to work alongside like-minded students who, like me, are passionate about creating real change for a sustainable future, also allowing me to learn from diverse perspectives, explore global sustainability challenges, and develop innovative solutions.

Ellie

I believe sustainability in schools matters because students learn best when the values we’re taught match the world we actually live in.

Being a TASS Student Ambassador excites me because it means I get to help close that gap — turning everyday school life into something greener and more honest.

Fahad

Sustainability plays an important role in real-life development and long-term success, and I believe it should be a key force behind school innovation as well. Schools shape future leaders, so promoting sustainability helps students think responsibly and create lasting impact. Felicia’s favourite animals are snakes. She wants “to make a teaspoon of change, a teaspoon of change is when someone does something and then a second person does it and then everyone does it”. Felicia is eager to represent AISHK within the TASS community.

Fernando

Sustainability in schools matters to me because right now a lot of the resources on earth are declining and many people are suffering due to lack of resources, climate change is affecting lots of animals and habitats so being in a sustainable school is one step closer to helping the environment.

What excites me most about being a TASS student ambassador is the fact that I know I’m helping the environment and even if it doesn’t make a big difference, one small thing can change for the better.

Ghyelle

I am a firm believer that all of mankind has a responsibility to take care and preserve the beautiful world that we live in, hence why I think it vital for us to promote and practice sustainability as best we can in school. I am excited to work alongside and learn from like-minded individuals to help promote sustainable practices in our learning environments.

Grace

Sustainability involves supporting the environment by creating things that are beneficial for the present and future generations, with a lasting positive environmental impact.

Greta

Greta has many passions when it comes to environmental action at school. She is most interested in helping to reduce food waste, reducing excessive energy consumption, and improving our recycling program. Greta has lots of ideas and is looking forward to collaborating with TASS representatives at other schools.

Hannah

Sustainability plays a significant role in our daily lives, and I believe that it is our duty as a privileged generation to have a wider perspective and strive for change. As we possess the knowledge and attention towards global issues, it is prominent that the ideologies of school sustainability is applied.

Therefore, by immersing myself in the opportunity to be a TASS student Ambassador, I hope to bring change to my school through the collaboration of many others who share this passion.

Sustainability in schools is all about raising and promoting awareness towards improving the quality of students’ life at school. To ensure that everyone has access to the same standard of education and producing a greener environment for all of us. Representing our school as a TASS Ambassador will definitely allow me to meet other ambassadors and help contribute to further changes in the community.

Jaymee

My teachers have always encouraged me to leave the world as a better place than it was when we found it. In today’s fast-paced community, we should do the best we can to protect our planet to keep it thriving for years to come. Being a TASS Student Ambassador will provide a platform for me to connect with more like-minded individuals, and help further promote sustainability in our school community.

Jeff

Sustainability isn’t just the goal of ensuring that future generations’ needs aren’t compromised: it’s the pride that comes with it that induces a drive to change. As a steward, my mission is to champion that empowering sentiment.

Jehad

Sustainability in schools is vital to me as schools shape the habits, values, and future choices that students will be built by. By creating a more sustainability-integrated school life, environmental impact can be reduced heavily whilst also inspiring students to become more responsible and more aware. Schools shape the future citizens of our nation, and I believe even small actions that are adopted by young students can have long-term positive change.

What excites me most about being a TASS Ambassador is the given opportunity to collaborate with like-minded students and also raise awareness relating to the important issues that our environment faces. It gives us an opportunity to implement our ideas into the real world. I am eager and immensely excited to create and support the making of initiatives that inspire and encourage others to join in on our road to a better future, not only within our school, but in a wider community.

June

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children” – Chief Seattle. To me, sustainability is not just a term, but a message that should shape our way of life: where we view the environment, ourselves, and the future as a whole. As global citizens and agents of change, we have the responsibility to make the most of our time on Earth and create a lasting impact to inspire tomorrow’s Earth.

I am beyond thrilled to share my passion for sustainability with like-minded youths across the globe, and the ability to connect, discuss, and foster innovation with other TASS ambassadors to give back to our earth is truly exciting.

Khadija

Sustainability is a multifaceted concept encompassing three core elements: the natural environment, economic vitality, and healthy communities. At its essence, sustainability is about the ability to maintain or support a process continuously over time.

Many businesses and governments have recognized the importance of sustainability and have committed to sustainable goals. These include reducing environmental impact and conserving valuable resources. By adopting sustainable practices, organizations can work towards a more balanced and resilient future.

Liam

Sustainability has become incredibly necessary for our planet. Its worsening condition is the reason why small acts of recycling and sustainability in our schools is needed to make our Earth a safe and healthy place. I look forward to working with students from other schools around the world to exchange ideas and take action to make our school more sustainable.

Lilianne

I believe that small changes in our learning and lives can help make a big difference in our environment.

I’m excited to be a TASS Student Ambassador as I’ll have the opportunity to turn ideas into actions, encourage other students to get involved and make sustainability feel like something everyone can contribute to.

Mariam

Sustainability to me means the future.
Our and future generations’ future depends on us; if we as a global community do not start to take action in environmental issues that us and past generations have caused, future generation’s lives would corrupt; and not forgetting to mention wild animal life, marine animal life, and plant life.
In honor to save all of that i have taken initiative within my community and school to do my part of taking care of the environment, wild life, marine life, human well-being and reducing carbon emissions.

Mayed

Sustainability in schools matters to me because I care about protecting the environment and creating healthy, safe spaces for everyone to learn. Being part of a movement that encourages sustainability and awareness among peers is incredibly fulfilling, and I look forward to collaborating with others to create a lasting impact

Muhammad

Sustainability might just be the biggest talk of the 21st century. People have been advocating for this issue for years, but not much has been done, and the situation is becoming alarming. I feel that we need to develop empathy towards the environment, and only then can we really do something for it. The place where children single-handedly spend most of their time is school. It is crucial that they learn about the issue and live in a sustainable environment. For me, the single greatest factor that shaped my interests in environmental protection was to be a part of a sustainable school. This is why sustainability in education matters as it builds a generation whose mindset is to achieve sustainability around the globe.

I am excited to be a TASS Ambassador because I want people to perceive sustainability not as a mere goal, but a part of their lives; an integral culture of human civilization. A person can be whatever they desire; a doctor, an engineer, a teacher or whatever they choose in this world. But, how can they truly be what they want to aspire if the world doesn’t exist in the first place? Therefore, I am excited to be a part of TASS. It is an amazing platform where I have the opportunity to work with welcoming and like-minded people from different countries. I will try to incorporate sustainability in schools while keeping the essence of interactive learning, ensuring that we humans get to see another day, and hope to witness the sustainable culture around the world.

Namsai

Sustainability and eco-friendliness have always been a part of Amnuay Silpa’s curriculum for as far as I can remember. They didn’t teach it at my old school, so when I first learned about global warming and climate change in maybe year 2 or 3, I was terrified for the future of our Earth. Though at that age, the most I could do was waste less water and finish all my food.

However, as I’ve grown, my understanding of sustainability has grown alongside me and maybe I still am that scared little girl, but now I can do more than sit and worry about these problems passively. I have the ability to take action now. And what excites me most about becoming a TASS ambassador is the opportunity to turn this passion of mine into actual, meaningful change.

Nandini

For students, school is our main community that we can contribute back to, and it shapes our future habits. Beyond the tremendous environmental benefits that sustainable practices have, these efforts also reinforce equity and global responsibility towards preserving our resources, as climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. Schools have a responsibility to instill both environmental and social awareness in students, shaping them into conscientious global citizens. Every person can ensure that they are only using as much as they need and make their small contribution, which collectively will help sustain resources for the future.

As student ambassador, I am eager and fueled by driving change and taking initiative to have a tangible impact. I am honoured to have this opportunity to create a lasting impact, ensuring that future students benefit from local practices and future generations experience less extreme effects of the climate crisis.

Naomi

Naomi is an active and engaged student who enjoys organizing a variety of events and initiatives related to sustainability and STEM. Through her work with the ITS Youth Advisory Committee, she has planned large-scale events focused on environmental sustainability. Naomi has also organized a Model United Nations conference and led school projects addressing issues like oil spills. As a TASS Ambassador, she is committed to driving positive change and creating a more sustainable future for the students in her school community.

Nathan

Sustainability in schools is essential to creating a pathway to a better and a greener world. It is so exciting that together, as an Alliance we can join together and share best practices in order to create this path for each other, allowing generations to come to live in a better world.

Nayyab

Schools are where children grow and learn, and they’re still open to new ideas about the world. We should use this opportunity to educate them about the Earth’s problems and how we can make a difference by living sustainably. I’m excited about being a TASS student ambassador because I look forward to learning new ways on how to have an impact on my environment by being more sustainable, and have other students, to help motivate me to keep going while doing so.

Niharika

I believe that schools have the ability to shape our future generation from the habits and values the school instills within them. Sustainability in schools is the first step towards students following these acts in their own lives as well. I think we can go a long way if we work together and involve more and more students within this field.

Nop

In a world with many climate issues, it is important to help reduce our impact on our surroundings. The easiest way for students is through making our schools more sustainable and to encourage this habit to help preserve the environment.

Being a TASS ambassador will allow us to see the initiatives of other schools in promoting sustainability and how we can adapt them to our school.

Pimmy

Sustainability in schools matters to me not only to create an eco-friendly environment but also as a crucial step toward achieving global sustainability and fostering a united community. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I have the opportunity to advocate for this goal. What excites me most are the endless possibilities for collaboration, connection, and the awareness we can raise together as a team.

Quincy

Sustainability is an important aspect of school life. As humans, we have been over-consuming resources and behaving in ways that negatively impact the planet. Many people believe that their individual actions do not make a difference. I hope that by being a TASS ambassador, I can learn more, gain ideas to share with my classmates, and encourage my school to be more environmentally aware. By working together, we can make a positive impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Ruby

I am excited about having the opportunity to really make a difference. I have gone to schools where sustainability is valued and I have seen the genuine impact it has on the environment and wider community. I hope to be able to create change as impactful as this.

Ryan

When looking at education in the bigger picture, schools and education are able to influence and impact our behaviors and who we become as global citizens, even long after we graduate. Hence, sustainability in schools are important to me as it instills environmental stewardship values in us, the students. Allowing us to gain a nuanced understanding of climate issues along with a high level of environmental and social awareness. Equipping us with the tools to contribute meaningfully to the fight to mitigate climate change, whether small or large in the present and future. Since a young age, I have developed a passion for sustainability due to my early exposure to my dad’s work in the biodiesel industry. Which I hope to utilize, along with newfound knowledge to meaningfully contribute to the TASS community.

I am incredibly grateful and thrilled to be a TASS Student Ambassador. I am very excited about driving potential impact and change through different initiatives. Along with, most importantly, meeting and connecting with like minded individuals, from all across the world that have the same interests as me specifically in sustainability and climate impact.

Sasha

I remember seeing litter in the desert when I was just 5 years old, and wondering about the impact it had on our community. That experience made me passionate about protecting our planet from a young age. Over the years, I’ve undertaken various projects to help the environment, but I knew I needed to do more to drive real change. That’s why I wanted to become a TASS Student Ambassador.

Scarlett

Sustainability and schools matter to me because schools shape how young people see their role in the world and their future depends on getting this right.

What excites me the most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is turning belief into action, connecting with other students, and proving that sustainable schools are possible.

Sreya

Sreya, a Year 7 student at Cambridge International School Dubai, is a young changemaker on a mission! Obsessed with sustainability, she’s all about turning classrooms into eco-action zones. Sustainability matters to me because schools can help young people build better habits and create real environmental change.

I’m excited to be a TASS Student Ambassador because I want to inspire others and turn sustainability ideas into action.

Tallie

Sustainability means protecting our future. It is an uphill battle, but one we can win together. From simple habits like picking up plastic bottles from the street, to lifestyle changes such as going vegan, practicing sustainability is an investment in ourselves, the people around us, and the people who have not yet had the privilege to live on this Earth.

Tiya

When I was 7 years old, I watched David Attenborough’s ‘Planet Earth’ and I was astounded. I remember, one documentary showing monkeys stranded in a dry desert because their homes in the Amazon forests were cut down to make paper for us. That truly made me reconsider the state of our environment.

I then decided that I would try my at-most best to help protect our environment for future generations. This starts from my home and my school. I am eager to implement these values at GFS and work towards making our school greener. As a TASS ambassador, I am determined to promote sustainability within our classrooms and communities, raising awareness on eco-friendly practices and encouraging others to join in our efforts to create a more sustainable future.

Toby

I believe that sustainability can only be worked towards collectively, and not individually. Sustainability in schools provides a community where people can work to achieve smaller goals within the school, and see improvements. Additionally, in-school sustainability is an accessible way for young people to take action in the field.

What excites me the most about TASS, is that it will give me the opportunity to hear from student leaders in sustainability globally, which is incredible for sustainability being a collective goal. Being able to communicate new ideas and implement them at my own school would be ideal.

Yassin

Sustainability matters to me because I believe that real change begins in our everyday environments. When students learn to respect and protect the world around them, they develop habits that shape the future for our communities.

What excites me most about being a TASS ambassador is the opportunity to inspire those around me and turn our ideas into real-world actions. I look forward to collaborating with like-minded individuals to foster a school culture where sustainability is both achievable and important for everyone.

Yilin

Sustainability in schools matters to me because schools are not only places where we gain knowledge, but also where habits and values take root. Schools teach students to think about their impact, helping them turn sustainability from an abstract idea into something lived daily, which can have a bigger impact beyond the school community.

What excites me most about being a TASS Student Ambassador is the opportunity to connect with students around the world and hear their own ideas for sustainability. I’d get to link students and staff, turn ideas into real projects, and work alongside others who care about changing their communities.

Sustainability in schools matters to me because this is our future. It shapes our mindsets and behaviours in order to keep our planet alive. As a TASS Student Ambassador, I am the most excited about the opportunity to inspire and empower fellow students to take action towards sustainability.
