Sustainability at
YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College (YHKCC)

At YHKCC, our sustainability education programme is designed to foster an understanding of the delicate balance between human wellbeing and the natural environment, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by UNESCO. This initiative is built on three fundamental pillars: environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The YHKCC Sustainability Development Committee, comprised of eight dedicated teachers from the academic, student activities and general affairs sectors, plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainability education through the following strategies:
YHKCC is proud to be a member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools and has appointed ‘TASS Ambassadors,’ a student-led extra-curricular group. This team organizes a range of activities to promote appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship, including interactive game booths at school fairs, an initiative for collecting unwanted uniforms, and participation in inter-school schemes and competitions. These activities enable students to actively engage in meaningful actions that contribute to both community and environmental development.
Additionally, the school arranges academic field trips for all grade levels, providing students with firsthand opportunities to explore and learn about local environmental initiatives and developments.
Through this structured approach, the YHKCC aims to cultivate a culture of sustainability and empower all members of the school community to contribute positively to the environment.
