Sustainability at
Sheikha Mariam School
At Sheikha Mariam School, sustainability is not just a requirement, it is something we truly live every day as a community. We weave sustainability naturally into our learning texts, class projects, and daily conversations so that students grow up understanding why caring for our environment matters. Our students are especially proud of the role they play. Many volunteers during school events, run awareness stalls, and help spread the message of making small, meaningful changes that protect our planet.
One of our most celebrated moments each year is our Sustainability Exhibition. The whole school comes together to showcase creative projects, from upcycled art to energy-saving inventions and planting initiatives. The exhibition brings excitement and curiosity, reminding us that sustainability can be both inspiring and fun.
As a school, we also try to model responsible habits. We use a sensible printing quota to reduce unnecessary paper use, and staff are encouraged to choose digital options whenever possible. Simple reminders about switching off lights, recycling correctly, and using resources mindfully help build a culture of awareness throughout the building.
We also encourage students to take part in planting, gardening, and caring for green spaces, helping them see first-hand how small actions make a difference. At Sheikha Mariam School, sustainability feels like a shared journey, one we walk together with pride, purpose, and hope for the future.
