Sara Village School

Leading the Way in Sustainability for ISG

At Sara Village School, we’re committed to fostering a sustainable future and take pride in several ongoing initiatives such as:

  • Student Eco-Council and TASS ambassadors: Our dedicated TASS Ambassadors and our Eco-Council are working together to identify, develop and implement new sustainability initiatives for the forthcoming year.
  • Education for Change: Through curriculum integration and daily activities, we are aiming to foster a school culture committed to environmental awareness and responsibility in both our school and within our broader community.
  • Waste Reduction and Reusables: We promote a waste-conscious environment and are working to reduce our classroom waste and maximise our recycling. Children bring their own lunches in reusable containers and utilise personal water bottles, eliminating single-use items and composting leftover food.
  • School Garden: Our school garden and outside area allows students to connect with nature and learn about food production along with growing and selling fresh produce via our pop-up farmers market. We also plan to use the area for wellbeing and outdoor learning such as bee-feeding stations.
  • Sustainable Transportation: All of our students are fortunate to live close by, encouraging a healthy and eco-friendly walk or bike ride to school leading to minimised emissions from vehicle usage.
  • Responsibly sourced: Our uniforms are locally sourced and manufactured, they are conveniently sold directly from the school, minimising transportation. We bulk buy our resources once a year and buy locally when possible, all this goes towards reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Partnership for Progress: We plan to collaborate with our compound management team to continuously improve recycling, waste management and energy efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: As a school we strive to further develop our understanding in areas that will continue to enhance our students education regarding sustainability and environmentally friendly practices not just for now but in their future.
