Regent International School

Sustainability at
Regent International School

Regent International School, as a proud member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of changemakers. We believe that exceptional education encompasses not only academic and personal success but also the cultivation of character, values and well-being. At the heart of our mission, our Environment and Sustainability Signature Programme equips students to be proactive champions of sustainability.

Our Eco Committee and Eco Warriors lead, drive and promote positive environmental change within the school community. Each year, our eco-team conducts an Environment and Sustainability Audit which showcases successes and identifies areas for improvement. Based on their findings, they develop an action plan and evaluate their impact at the end of every year. Their dedication to sustainability has been officially acknowledged by Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots UAE Programme, reflecting the school’s commitment to creating a greener future.

Community involvement is a fundamental aspect of our Environment and Sustainability Signature Programme. We have established a dedicated green parent community who actively participate in eco-friendly initiatives and events. These activities encompass in-school opportunities, such as networking sessions and “Grow Alongs”, as well as signposting external sustainability-focused events which promote collaboration and enhance environmental awareness. We also use our parent expertise to evaluate existing practices and commitments, including our use of hydroponics.

At Regent, students are surrounded by a variety of opportunities to engage in eco experiences. They take part in Forest School and Eco School lessons, as well as key environmental initiatives, such as: TASS Environmental Leadership Sessions, the Spinneys’ Farm to Table programme, a Heriot-Watt Future Sustainability Careers Showcase, BSME Climate Change Conferences and beach clean ups. Our Eco Club ECA and local eco-trips also enhance their understanding of environmental issues, empowering them to actively contribute to sustainability efforts both within the school and in the wider community.

Regent International School cultivates a culture of sustainability, encouraging students to think critically about our role in protecting the planet and to engage actively in this effort. We are committed to making a positive environmental impact and nurturing the next generation of environmental changemakers.
