Sustainability at
Reigate Grammar School Riyadh

At Reigate Grammar School Riyadh, sustainability is a core value embedded into our daily practices, our curriculum, and the culture we aim to instil in every student. As a school committed to developing responsible global citizens, we continuously work to create an environment where environmental awareness, action, and accountability are part of everyday life.

One of our flagship initiatives is our annual Beyond COP21 Symposium, which brings together students, educators, and environmental organisations to explore solutions to global climate challenges. Through interactive workshops, student-led panels, and hands-on activities, our students gain a deeper understanding of sustainability and are encouraged to think critically about their role in shaping a greener future.

On campus, we are committed to reducing waste and promoting responsible consumption. RGSR is a no-disposable-cup school, and all students and staff bring their own reusable water bottles and containers, significantly reducing plastic waste. Across the school, recycling and responsible waste sorting are reinforced through assemblies, tutor-time activities, and student-led awareness campaigns.

In addition, RGSR is taking practical steps to reduce energy consumption. Several of our air-conditioning units now operate using solar power, reflecting our long-term commitment to adopting renewable energy solutions within our infrastructure. This initiative not only lowers our environmental footprint but also serves as a practical learning example for students about clean energy.

Through these combined efforts, we continue to nurture a school community that values sustainability, takes pride in environmentally conscious behaviour, and actively contributes to a more sustainable future for Saudi Arabia and beyond.
