Sustainability at
Jockey Club Sarah Roe School

At Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, we envision a future where our students are empowered to become active and responsible global citizens. We strive to create an educational environment that fosters an appreciation and understanding of sustainability principles, inspiring our students to make a positive impact in the world.

“Nature” (Environmental Stewardship)

We believe in nurturing a strong connection between our students and the natural world and aim to instil in them a sense of wonder, respect, and responsibility towards the environment.

Our curriculum integrates sustainability across various subjects, encouraging students to experience ecological systems, explore the interdependence of species, and develop an awareness of the impact of human activities on the Earth.

“Society” (Social Responsibility)

We recognise that sustainability extends beyond environmental concerns and encompasses social justice and equity.  By nurturing their empathy and compassion, we strive to empower our students to actively contribute to the wellbeing and fairness of society including themselves.

Our school is committed to cultivating a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and respect. We foster a strong sense of community by promoting collaboration, open dialogue, and understanding among all stakeholders. We encourage our students to engage with social issues within their circle of experience.

“Economy” (Resource Efficiency)

We embrace the principles of resource efficiency and responsible consumption in order to equip our students with the skills and knowledge to lead sustainable lives now and in the future.

Our school strives to be a model of sustainability by integrating efficient practices in our daily operations. We promote energy conservation, waste reduction, and responsible water usage. Through education and awareness, we empower our students (and wider school community) to adopt sustainable habits and make informed choices that minimise their ecological footprint.

“Wellbeing” (Personal health and wellbeing)

We believe that personal wellbeing is essential for a sustainable and fulfilling life. As a school we are committed to the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our students and staff.

We provide opportunities for regular physical activity, promote healthy nutrition, and emphasise the importance of mental health and mindfulness. Our supportive and nurturing environment encourages self-reflection, self-care, and the development of positive relationships. By nurturing the wellbeing of our students, we enable them to thrive academically, socially, and personally, equipping them with the resilience and balance needed to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.
