At Jebel Ali School, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to raising awareness about the local environment and the importance of protecting wildlife to maintain biodiversity. Our students actively participate in environmental projects, which have included visiting mangroves, completing beach clean-ups, and hosting regular Bioblitzes. These efforts have culminated in one of the largest wildlife events ever seen in Dubai – collecting 3,600 records on the iNaturalist app in just one week! We encourage our students to adopt sustainable practices from an early age. They are inspired to bring waste from home to contribute to our composting initiative and engage in growing their own food using vegepods and vertical gardens. Our experiment to grow the largest mass of food in a one-metre square space exemplifies our innovative approach to sustainability. As a member of the RECAPP scheme, our school successfully recycles most plastic bottles and tin cans, with our contributions monitored on a digital dashboard. Furthermore, we are excited to participate in the JUNK KOUTURE competition, where our teams aim to reach the finals in Abu Dhabi in 2025 with high-end fashion pieces made entirely from recycled materials. Our mission is to foster an environmentally conscious community that values and actively participates in sustainable practices, ensuring a greener future for generations to come.
