Sustainability at
German European School Singapore (GESS)

As a forward-thinking, progressive international school, the German European School Singapore (GESS) is committed to sustainability. We believe that it is our responsibility to not only educate our students about the importance of sustainability and to prepare them to be responsible stewards of the environment, but to set an example and ensure we not only “talk the talk” but as an organisation we “walk the walk”. Understanding that this journey is a continuous process, the school is committed to cultivating a culture of sustainability that evolves over time.

We have made great strides in recent years in reducing our environmental impact. We have installed solar panels on our roofs, switched to energy-efficient lighting, and implemented a number of water-saving measures. We have also implemented a number of waste-reduction initiatives, including recycling, and reducing single-use plastics.

At our core, we understand the importance of being a responsible member of the communities we serve. As a large organisation, we acknowledge our duty to contribute positively to the local community we operate in. This commitment extends beyond simply participating in community initiatives. It encompasses our dedication to the well-being of our local workforce, as well as our long-term commitment to minimise our environmental footprint.

We are committed to continuing our sustainability efforts and we will continue to find ways to reduce our environmental impact and to educate our students about sustainability. We believe that by working together, we can make a difference in the world.
