Sustainability at
GEMS Founders School Dubai South
At GEMS Founders School Dubai South, sustainability is deeply embedded within our school culture, curriculum, and daily practices. As an active member of The Alliance of Sustainable Schools (TASS) and a proud participant in the Oxford International Curriculum for Sustainability, we are committed to equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to become responsible global citizens who actively contribute to a more sustainable future.
Our approach to sustainability extends far beyond the classroom. Through innovative learning experiences, hands-on projects, and whole-school initiatives, students are empowered to explore environmental challenges and develop creative solutions. From sustainable gardening projects and waste reduction campaigns to uniform recycling initiatives like “Sustain-a-Uniform,” every student is given the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our community and environment.
Leadership plays a central role in our sustainability journey. As part of our Sustainability Leadership Team, students collaborate to design and implement projects, promote awareness, and inspire their peers. Our annual Sustainability Exhibition, in partnership with Oxford University Press, showcases the remarkable work of our students and highlights how sustainability is integrated across different subject areas and year groups.
We are proud to foster a strong partnership between staff, students, parents, and the wider community to advance our sustainability goals. Our vision is not only to educate but to lead by example—modelling sustainable practices in our operations, resource management, and decision-making processes.
At GEMS Founders School Dubai South, sustainability is not a standalone topic—it is a way of thinking, learning, and living. As we continue to grow and innovate, we remain dedicated to empowering our students to be thoughtful stewards of the planet and positive changemakers for the future.
