Sustainability at
Cranleigh Abu Dhabi

We are very passionate about sustainability at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. This passion stems from a deep sense of responsibility towards creating a more equitable and habitable planet for current and future generations. It encompasses the desire to protect biodiversity, mitigate the impacts of human activities, and ensure a sustainable and harmonious coexistence between humans and the environment.

We have an Eco Committee consisting of staff and students which meets periodically to discuss key and relevant strategies to reduce the carbon footprint at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. Some recent actions have seen:

  • The removal of disposable plates and plastic cutlery
  • The above being replaced by bamboo cutlery, as well as being placed strategically to ensure it is not misused
  • Disposable boxes and disposable cups have been completely removed
  • The introduction of more vegan and vegetarian meal options
  • A whole-school strategy to design new bins and place them strategically around the school to encourage responsible waste management
  • Whole-school communication to promote the responsible use of air conditioning
  • Eco links to curriculum as part of our Green Flag Award
  • Trips and events being considered with the view of encouraging sustainable habits

The Eco Committee will reconvene at the start of the 2024/25 academic year to continue their unwavering support towards a more sustainable environment.
