Sustainability at
The British International School of Jeddah (BISJ)
At BISJ, sustainability is integral to who we are and what we teach. As one of the first five Saudi founding members of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS), we have formally committed to the Sustainable Schools Charter, demonstrating our dedication to environmental responsibility, global cooperation, and meaningful student-led action.
Our students act as TASS Student Ambassadors, and through our Green Team and other initiatives, they lead efforts to reduce single-use plastics, promote awareness, and implement sustainable practices throughout the school.
Our partners help make this possible: Kapes providing ethical school-wear; and Catered by Ibis, our food service partner, helps us work towards a zero-plastic policy while ensuring healthy choices and contributing towards a campus wide composting scheme. We choose partners who share our values and support sustainable operations.
Sustainability at BISJ is not a project with a finish line, it’s woven into our learning culture, daily operations, and community relationships. Together with staff, students, and partners, we’re working to create a lasting, positive impact both locally and globally.
