Sustainability at
ADNOC Schools Ruwais

Sustainability is part of everyday life at ADNOC Schools, Ruwais Campus. We were awarded “Green Flag Status” by Eco-Schools at the end of the 2021-22 academic year in recognition of our efforts to be a sustainable school.

  • As a school community, we aim to create a culture where sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and where the concept of sustainability informs the way we educate, operate, collaborate, innovate, and grow.
  • As part of our sustainability drive, we have been in collaboration with Eshara water in implementing a product solution that harnesses the humidity in the atmosphere to create high-quality drinking water. The offered product offers a sustainable solution which caters the global water shortage crisis offering a high-quality drinking water certified to the highest international and local standards and which is 6 times less expensive than bottled drinking water.
  • Over the past year, we have diligently worked on numerous sustainability projects, aligning our efforts with several Sustainable Development Goals. Our dedication to sustainability extends beyond the school gates. From organizing interactive assemblies focused on recycling to leading impactful field trips and actively participating in local and global environment events – our students and staff have shown remarkable dedication and passion.
  • To improve waste management, we placed bins for general waste, paper, and plastics in all classrooms. Students and teachers have been instructed to dispose of waste according to these categories. Over the past few months, we have observed a significant reduction in general waste and an increase in recyclable waste.
  • We have installed an air-pollution monitoring device which monitor the air quality in our school, with alerts if there are high levels of pollution.
  • We have sustainability garden and introduce green house for students, which will support gardening and the seedling process. This initiative will provide hands-on learning opportunities and promote sustainability within our school community.
  • Energy saving is another key aspect of our sustainability efforts. We promote energy-saving practices such as turning off lights and electronics when not in use, utilizing energy-efficient lighting systems, and optimizing the HVAC systems.
