Sustainability at
ADNOC Schools Ghayathi

ADNOC Schools Ghayathi is proud to be a member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS). Our sustainability committee is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental consciousness among our staff and student body.

Education plays a crucial role in moving towards a more sustainable future. It not only equips students with knowledge but also instills the values and skills necessary to understand environmental challenges and address them with sustainable practices.

We have demonstrated our commitment to sustainability by conducting various activities on- campus involving both students and staff. We are looking forward to further engagement in all kinds of sustainability activities in the future. Sustainability is a core value in the UAE, reflecting long-term objectives and cultural identity. We are pleased with the student engagement in this program, as they are eager to participate in sustainability efforts.

In recent months, the sustainability team at ADNOC School’s Ghayathi campus has taken the initiative to create a seating area for a reading corner and a small garden tent for the students. This project includes a reading area with four chairs made from recycled tires. Students participated by painting the tires and creating seating by tying ropes between them. As part of our sustainability efforts, KG students participated in a park clean-up at Zayed Al Khair Park during Term 1. The event was attended by parents and members of the municipality team, who also engaged with the students

As part of the Term 2 project, students interacted with municipality staff. At the request of the sustainability team, the staff visited and gave a presentation on planting. They also participated in planting activities with the students, providing them with plants to work with. As part of our sustainability efforts in the third term, Mr. Silaal and their team conducted a food and agriculture awareness program, providing kits and plants for the students.

Water consumption has significantly decreased compared to the last academic year due to the sustainability team’s efforts and regular monitoring. In terms of electricity, we have also seen a notable reduction in consumption compared to last year. The sustainability team has worked diligently to emphasize the importance of minimizing electricity use.

To improve waste management, we placed bins for general waste, paper, and plastics in all classrooms. Students and teachers have been instructed to dispose of waste according to these categories. Over the past couple of months, we have observed a significant reduction in general waste and an increase in recyclable waste.
