Koda is a team of educational architecture specialists that are inspired by the transformative power of education. We recognise that evolving teaching methods and technology are revolutionising how education is delivered. Our mission is to design buildings that harness this potential from the core outwards.
Koda places sustainability at the core of its operations, integrating eco-friendly practices into every aspect of its work. The company aligns its initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that each project contributes positively to both the environment and society.
A key component of Koda’s sustainability efforts is its collaboration with Waste to Wonder to manage processes for redundant school furniture and equipment. This approach not only reduces disposal costs for corporate clients but also enhances their Corporate Responsibility and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) efforts. In a recent project, Koda, in collaboration with Taaleem, successfully redistributed over 11,000 kg of school furniture to schools worldwide, achieving a remarkable 100% reuse rate.
Koda has also developed SustainED, an AI-driven method to efficiently design and build schools in developing countries, democratising the school design and build process. This includes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms that revolutionise the approach to educational architecture.
Furthermore, Koda expanded its outreach and is in the process of designing a sustainable community cookery school in The Gambia. The Cookery School aims to cultivate skills in sustainable cooking, agriculture, hospitality, and tourism among young individuals, fostering self-reliance and the ability to rise from poverty across generations.
Through these initiatives, Koda demonstrates a comprehensive commitment to sustainability, addressing environmental challenges and promoting social responsibility in the educational sector.
