Animated For Impact is a storytelling education programme that helps young people radically reimagine their relationship with both nature and the future, and discover the agency to shape the world they want to see.

We are rehearsing the wrong ending

Every day we’re subjected to a relentless barrage of bleak news, and the future visions we put on screen reflect that: dystopian, barren wastelands, climate catastrophe, societal collapse.

Stuck in survival mode, we’re left with no space to daydream, no material to imagine a different, better future.  We are, as writer Solitaire Townsend puts it, constantly “rehearsing the wrong ending.”  It can leave many of us, including young people, feeling anxious, afraid, and apathetic.

Animated For Impact offers the most powerful remedy we have against this tide of doom: story.  Stories shape how we see and understand ourselves and the world. They allow us to imagine a better future and to believe we can make it a reality.

Unlike advertising, which sells us solutions to our ‘problems’, environmental storytelling has tended to stay stuck on the problem. We believe the stories we tell about nature can be better, to get young people not just informed, but ignited.

From doomscrolling to world building

Our decades making animation, film and brand storytelling taught us how to craft messages that not only move an audience, but transport them from awareness to action.

We’re here to help the next generation of writers, world-builders and visionaries find their voice and do the same: tell stories that inspire agency, spark change and shape what comes next. 

We work in the visual languages young people speak natively: animation, games, graphic novels, digital media – to nurture energised global citizens driven by purpose rather than fear.
